Flood in Afghanistan
Flash floods caused by heavy rains have hit the northern part of Afghanistan, affecting the provinces of Baghlan, Takhar, and Badakhshan.
The death toll from the floods has reached at least 300, with more than a thousand homes destroyed, leaving many without shelter.
Water suppliers have been destroyed, farmland flooded, and livestock swept away. Schools have been closed, and health centres damaged. Due to disrupted transport links, helicopters have been sent to assist with rescue and evacuations.
