Flood in Indonesia

Floods, landslides, soil movement, and strong winds ravaged small villages in the Sukabumi district of West Java, Indonesia, on 04 December. The floods and landslides were triggered by torrential rain; consistent rainfall also caused several riverbanks to burst.

Bodies were discovered by search and rescue teams in Tegalbuleud, Simpenan, and Ciemas. Ten people are known to have died, and rescue teams are searching for two people. A total of 437 people were reported to be affected, and 238 were left displaced.

1,275 educational units were temporarily disrupted, and 8 were reported damaged. The closure of schools has affected 842 students and 235 teachers in Sukabumi. The possibility of remote learning is being explored.
