Flood in Senegal

Heavy rains have caused flooding in Senegal, affecting the capital city of Dakar. A number of deaths have been reported since the flooding began along with many injuries.

Senegal's rainy season lasts from July to September, with the peak taking place in August. The nation has been suffering from these annual floods since 2005, when a long period of drought ended.

This year's flooding has taken a toll on urban residence's, with significant damage to property, most notably in Grand Yoff, Dakar. Many roads in the area have become impassable causing several accidents, traffic jams and disruptions.
