Flood in Palestine (State Of)
Since August 2025, Gaza has faced repeated severe flooding as winter storms brought heavy rain, strong winds, and elevated sea levels caused by high tides and strong waves. These conditions directly impacted flood-prone coastal areas, overwhelming damaged drainage systems and inundating displacement camps.
Thousands of tents and makeshift shelters were destroyed, and dozens of people were killed, while the collapse of infrastructure—especially sewage and water systems—heightened the risk of disease and exposure. The Gaza Strip, located in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, was already experiencing an extremely critical humanitarian crisis.
The flooding further affected displaced people living in vulnerable coastal settlements. Many families remained in low-lying, poorly protected areas, struggling to stay dry and safe despite ceasefires and aid efforts, and facing increased loss and hardship.
